Dental implants are an effective and permanent option for replacing missing teeth. With dental implants, patients can enjoy all their favorite foods again and smile with confidence.

What Is an Implant?

Dental implants can replace a single missing tooth, multiple missing teeth, or all of the teeth in your mouth. They are composed of three parts: the titanium post that is placed in your jawbone, the abutment that connects the post to the artificial tooth, and the prosthesis itself.

The dental implant procedure is performed by an oral surgeon, periodontist, or prosthodontist. Once the post has been placed and healed, the implant is completed with a crown or other prosthesis. If all of your teeth are missing, our doctors can place implants at strategic locations in your jaw and attach a permanent fixed bridge on the same day. This is called the All-on-4 treatment, which utilizes four implants to support an entire upper or lower prosthetic arch. It can also be utilized as a single-tooth replacement option.

Your replacement teeth are made in our on-site lab by our skilled technicians and trained specialists, making them truly customized for you.

Benefits of Dental Implants

  • Improved appearance – Dental implants are permanent, so you don’t have to worry about removing them as you might with dentures or bridges. They are designed to look and function just like your natural teeth. Plus, they are designed to blend in with your smile. Implants replace the visible parts of teeth that are missing, not just the roots. They also prevent jawbone loss and gum recession that often occurs with missing teeth.
  • Increased comfort – Because implants are placed in the jawbone and fuse with the bone over time, they are more stable than removable dentures. You can eat all your favorite foods without worrying that your dentures might slip out of place. Additionally, you will no longer experience discomfort from denture irritation like sores in your mouth or difficulty in chewing. Since dental implants also protect your existing healthy teeth by keeping them in place, you won’t need to deal with shifting teeth caused by missing ones. (Of course, it’s important to continue to brush and floss your remaining healthy teeth and mouth daily for good oral hygiene.)
  • Easier speaking and eating – With traditional dentures, the adhesive used to hold your teeth in can often make eating certain foods difficult, like chewy bread and tough meats. This can be embarrassing, as well as inconvenient. With dental implants, however, you can bite into just about anything you like! That’s because your replacement teeth are secured by the dental implant posts in your jaw rather than just being attached to your gums like with traditional dentures. They’ll feel more secure and natural when you speak and eat too.
  • Durability – While bridges and dentures often need to be replaced every five to 10 years, dental implants have the potential to last a lifetime when properly cared for. You still need to come to your regular checkups with your dentist for cleanings and exams.
