Veneers

Veneers in Lawrenceville, GA

Dental veneers are thin, custom-made shells that cover the front of your teeth and change the length and shape of your teeth. They’re made of tooth-colored materials that make them blend with the rest of your smile. Veneers are often used for cosmetic purposes but can also be used to protect damaged teeth from further damage.

Types of Veneers

Veneers are designed to cover smaller imperfections, such as small gaps between teeth and stains on teeth. They can’t be used to correct major structural issues like broken or chipped teeth.

Veneers can be made of porcelain or composite resin. Porcelain veneers tend to last longer than other types of dental veneers and resist staining better than resin veneers. On the other hand, composite resin veneers are typically less expensive and can be applied in a single visit, while porcelain veneers typically require two visits to apply. Despite these differences, both types of veneer require the maintenance of regular checkups and good oral hygiene.

Process of Placing Veneers

First, we numb the tooth to ensure the patient is comfortable during the procedure. Then, we remove a small amount of the natural enamel from the front surface of the tooth to make room for the veneer. Next, we take an impression of the tooth so a custom veneer can be made that will fit properly over the tooth. The impression is sent to our lab, where a skilled technician fabricates the veneer using high-quality materials. Finally, the patient returns to our office to have the veneer placed and secure it in place. It’s as simple as that!

Candidacy for Veneers

If you’re unhappy with your smile because of cosmetic issues, such as cracked, chipped, misaligned, stained, or gapped teeth, then yes—veneers are perfect for you! Veneers can give you the smile you’ve always wanted in one simple procedure. Even patients who’ve been told in the past that they’re not candidates for traditional orthodontic treatment can benefit from veneers.

However, keep in mind that veneers aren’t for everyone. If your teeth have decay or gum disease, those will need to be treated before you can get veneers. It’s also important to note that veneers have some limitations.

Caring for Your Veneers

Maintaining the health of your veneers is of paramount importance to their longevity. Avoid biting your nails and use caution when eating hard foods to prevent chips or cracks. If you clench your teeth at night, consider wearing a night guard to protect them from excessive wear and tear.
